The first day of Enja's class was interesting. Despite having a hard ass instructor who very well scared away a good number of class members in tears or wetting their pants, Enja held his ground. He was afraid that due to his age he wouldn't have much chance but despite a late start, he knew he could press forward. IN fact there were others like him in the class.

Even more, the teacher was proud of his initiation and willingness to answer questions. Despite him being viewed as scary, he was well respected and a good teacher. Enja was inspired by him.

ANd in the interest to not disappoint him, it led Enja back to the Asakura shrine area. Finding his favorite forest area, he decided to tackle his first real training exercise. If he was going to be a ninja, he would have to handle a few things. For one, his flaw was his dexterity-- his speed and reflexes. Though he considered them good, he knew he could do better. A simple punch was good, but he wanted to react faster. After all, a true ninja was measured by speed, not strength.

The question was how. Enja looked up to the sky, the blue sky and clouds covered by the branches and greenery of the trees. As he felt the wind blow against him, he wanted to move like the wind could.

The trick was how to do it. Then he remembered his own family's training area. A small clearing they used for swordsman pratice. A series of small stone poles in the ground and a wooden block hung by a string in the nearby branches. The design of it was to move on the poles and preposition yourself to hit the wooden block with a wooden sword or stick. As the block would swing around differently with its weight, one would have to avoid getting hit by it and hitting it back. It required swordsman skills a little, and alot of dexterity to master.

Walking a small ways into the woods, he found it, overlooking the mountain area. It was not in use and has not been touched for a while. Finding it, he went and looked for a stick. Finding a even size one about the size of a foot or more, he picked it up. It would be thick enough for his uses as he looked at the poles.

Trying to account of where the poles were, he would need to keep an eye on the footholds AND the wooden block.

"Come on. No backing out. You're going to be a shinobi so start training like one," he said and stepped onto the two wooden poles.

Placed around randomly, there was no real place to make a proper footing. Still, it was depending on one's position and the angle they wanted to strike from. After a moment, ENja delivered the first strike!

Like a softball to a bat, the block went swinging up into the air, and held on to by the rope. After the first move, it began to come back down. With a quick look at both the angle and the position of the poles in the ground, Enja moved to his right. He almost lost his balance but he recovered and took another strike at the block.

This time it veered in another direction and would come back again in time.
