Breath of Fire (Katon Training X 1 +Int X4 + Rewards)

It was now high noon as the sun burned high in the sky. Asura was with his master, Roku as they now stood before a straw pratice dummy. Asura was not sure what was the intent to use this dummy, but ROku insisted on it. At first, he thought he was going to go through the physical drills of ninja training. Strength, dexterity, speed, accuracy. Those points seemed vital, including endurance of taking blows. However, for now, Asura was sitting cross legged on the ground along with Master Roku.

It was one of those 'paaatience' moments. Asura just hated those.

"As I am sure you were curious, Asura," Master ROku said calmly, his hands folded inside his sleeves patiently like a sage. it was no wonder he was called Roku the Red Sage. "We shall begin to scratch the surface of learning your chakra nature of Fire. "

This was a surprise to Asura. He had been wanting to learn fire for a while, along with the Tengan's powers. However, Master ROku was determine to make sure he understood the basics before going into the powers of the Tengan, their family Kekkei Genkai.

"As you know, our clan excels at fire style jutsu. It is one of five primary elemental styles that chakra fall under and govern our powers as shinobi. There is fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning. As you can imagine, the five great nations took their names from these five chakra natures." Roku explained to Asura, who nodded in understanding. He listened carefully and understood that much already. Still, Roku continued. "As for us, fire will be the one you will be training with today. "

Asura felt like he wanted to jump up in joy, but he knew Roku woudln't approve. "How do we start?" Asura asked excitedly.

Roku raised a hand. "First, we start by learning about the nature of fire itself." He said. WIth that, he flexed his hand, and just like that fire flickered to life. A sphere of it hovered in his hand as he held it out, the flames flickering and moving with the air around it. Asura looked at the flame as Roku explained.

"Fire is the element of power. People with fiery natures have desire and will, and the energy and drive to achieve what they want." Roku explained. "It is a part of a person's very being that a chakra nature usually can be reflected to their personality and desires. To wield fire, you must understand that drive. ANd also..."

"Yeah, and also..." Asura asked.

Roku held the flame between them. "To understand fire itself. Then and only then can you truly utalize fire as a weapon as a shinobi. Now take a good look at the flame in my hand." he instructed. Asura's attention went to the flame as he watched it hover off his master's palm. "Tell me, what makes fire? How is it created and what does it need to burn?" he asked.

Asura looked at the flame and gave it some thought. "Um... well usually you need kindling or anything flammable to set a spark to to start a fire..." he said.

"And?" Roku said, clearly stating that the answer was not complete.

He gave another look to the flames, and looked at how it moved. It flickered and moved with the smallest breeze nearby. It was then that it hit him. "Oh-- air. It requires oxygen to burn, doesn't it?" he added.

"Very good," Roku said and nodded in agreement. "Fire requires oxygen to burn. It also relates to the bonds of element and their association to one another. Just as water can put out fire, fire burns stronger when exposed to air. The same goes as wind is superior to lightning, lightning to earth, and earth to water. As such, air allows fire to burn brighter and allows it to thrive, much like how a forest fire grows in strength. "

With that, ROku closed his hand and the fire was quickly snuffed out, leaving a little puff of smoke. "One this is certain, the sun is the greatest source of fire in our world." He said as he pointed up. Asura also looked up, glancing at the sun above them. It burned with its light and of course it was hard to look at directly. "It is an ever present sphere of fire that both is destructive in nature, but it also gives life to the world. Without it, there would be no summer or spring. WIthout its rays' crops wouldn't grow, all would be cold and dark and life wouldn't be able to exsist. Of course, the sun can also cause droughts and wilt crops to naught. Regardless, it is a source of fire that is balanced in our world. "

Roku then turned back to Asura. "It is of no wonder that the Jiin special power, the Tengan , takes on the shape of a sun in our eyes. And for us, Fire is as much a source of life our clan as it is its destructive power as a weapon."

Asura nodded once more. "I understand Master... but how do I MYSELF use fire?" he asked, wanting to unlock more potency to the powers of fire.

At this Roku smiled as he finally stood up. Asura did the same as he pointed to the dummy. " Well, that will be the target you will use to pratice the power of fire. Mind you, I don't expect you to get it right away, but I am sure you will catch the knack of it in time. " ROku said as he showed him the training dummy and stepped to the side. "First, you must understand the basics of fire base jutsu. "

WIth that, Asura listened to his master. "For now... I want you to begin your deep breathing exercises" he instructed.

Asura looked a bit perplexed at that order. "Um... just that? " he asked. It was a bit misleading as Asura had hoped to learn significant fire jutsu by the end of all this. "How would the dummy help if i am just breathing at it." he said with a hint of sarcasm.

Roku gave Asura a grumpy look. "You do remember what I said, didn't you?" he warned, his tone a bit sharp and caused Asura to stand back up straight in attention. "Fire thrives off air. In the form of Katon, the power of fire comes from one's own breath! In many fire style jutsu, many emit the flames from their mouths because of the nature of using their own air to fuel those flames. "

Asura did admit, it made sense and seen others use the same methods. Their very chest would heave as they would launch fire from their mouths. Asura nodded once more, realizing his master was right.

"You will be directing your breathing towards the dummy. In time, you will learn to channel chakra into it, and allow you to use fire. " he explained.

With his instructions clear, Asura soon began to do just that. As strange and unsatisfying as it felt, Asura began his breathing exercises. Inhale... and exhale... he carried the breath long and drew it out, each breath a large one as he felt his chest heave.

While Asura did this, Roku watched with interest. He would keep an eye on his progress in this exercise, knowing full well it was the start to Asura's mastery over fire.
