Much was often said of Hanuman, the Elder of the Sun Monkey Clan. Some say that Hanuman was the first ever animal to learn the Language of the Humans. Others say that Hanuman use to torture Humans. But one thing that was for sure, Hanuman was literally the oldest monkey of the clan and held so much knowledge he was feared by both the Toad clan and the Snake Clan’s respective heads. Hanuman was a giant Monkey whose sized dwarfed even Son Goku the largest monkey of the Sun Clan. Heise compared hanuman’s size to the size of his own statue. Around 300 years ago, It was said that Hanuman’s body was comprised of pure muscle. But now at this point, Heise was pretty sure that Hanuman was composed of just fat from his diet.
Just like most elder’s Hanuman had a vast amount of knowledge and wisdom. He also was great a prophesying things to come. Heise never believed in fate or prophecies but Hanuman’s knowledge of the now and current always satisfied him. Unfortunately, Heise wasn’t a big fan of Hanuman in part because of his speech. Hanuman often spoke in riddles and haiku’s which confused Heise. And Hanuman tried to speak in a normal voice, he’d just sound like a dumb brutish ape. The other reason why Heise didn’t like Hanuman was because of Hanuman’s bad habit of Gas. Due to his strictly fruit diet, Hanuman would often have mounds of Poop outside the temple and farted a lot when inside his temple creating an aroma that was in fact, Unique. But nevertheless, Heise was determined to see him (even after Enma’s warnings).
The staircase to Hanuman’s temple was covered in green moss growing all the way to it’s end, and was guarded by one dragon either side of the handle. The stair case curved around a lake ending at a the foot of a Plateau where the temple was.
“The 2000 mile snake way” Wukong said trailing behind Heise who followed him on the staircase’s path. The Monkey clan had a knack for naming things with ridiculous names that were far from the truth. Often times, each name had a legend behind it. This staircase was no different.
“It is said, Hanuman carved this staircase straight from the white snake’s back.” Wukong said laughing.
“What is it that Hanuman can’t do?” Heise replied sarcastically. Even when walking up the staircase, Heise could already smell the heavy aroma of poop. At one point, Heise stopped and hurled over the stair case into the lake.
“Why the hell doesn’t anyone do something about the smell?” Heise asked as he wiped his mouth. Wukong turned his head to Heise.
“What smell?” Wukong said with a serious tone. Heise let a sigh escape from his mouth.
“I see now.”
After about ten minutes of slow pace walking they made it up the stairs. Heise noted to himself how the staircase was really only 698 wooden steps which was in no way shape or form close to the 2000 Mile snake way made of the White Snake’s skin. Also just as Heise predicted, to the left of the temple wall was giant mount of poop siting there waiting to be decomposed into the land. Ironically enough, around the temple was lush with fertile grass and an array of flowers. One would think for the amount of flowers they would produce a smell, but the large amount of poop outweighed their smell.
“May the Gods give me strength to deal” Heise said as he opened the stone walls of the temple. Immediately he placed his hand over his nose and tried to block as much as the smell as he could. The tiny nose hairs were already burning from the smell.
“Heise” A deep voice boomed and echoed off the stone walls, “ He who is not satisfied with himself will grow; he who is not sure of his own correctness will learn many things”
“Do you know what the fuck he’s saying?” Heise whispered into Wukong’s ear. Wukong shrugged and shook his head.
“No one but Son G know’s man.” Wukong replied. Heise cleared the lump in his throat. Most people wouldn’t admit it but being in Hanuman’s presence was a terrifying thing.
“UH, Elder Hanuman. I have a question about the other sage. Who is he?” Heise asked. There was long silence and for a moment Heise thought he heard the Monkey sleeping.
“Hanuman you awake there?” Heise asked as he stepped closer. For some reason, Heise’s stepped triggered the white haired monkey and caused him to roar. Just as his words did his roar bounced off the walls and resonated very deeply within Heise’s body. It even cause him to drop to the ground on his knees for a moment. Wukong who had been used to Hanuman was unfazed.
“Boy… Sage… Name… Cloud…” Hanuman managed to grunt out. It was almost a complete sentence. Hanuman seemed to be improving on his speech.
“Cloud… is… Brother… Heise…” Hanuman continued. Heise’s eyes widened as he looked at Wukong who wasn’t surprised at all. Wukong must have known all along. Eventually, after about thirty minutes, Heise would piece together that Cloud was the name of the other Sage in the monkey clan and He was his brother. Hanuman would also spill that before his rebirth, Heise was searching for his family.
Heise was about to walk away when Hanuman said one more thing that made him think.
“Do not anxiously hope for that which has not yet come; do not vainly regret what is already past” Hanuman’s words echoed.
Back at the cave where the smell was much nicer, Heise and Wukong sat on a tree overlooking the entire Water Curtain Cave.
“He’s out there Wukong. My brother.” Heise said.
“Well than what are you going to do?” Wukong replied.
“I have to find him and learn about my childhood.” He said. Wukong rubbed his head and nodded.
“I guess, I’m here with you."
