Reo popped out of the portal with eyes closed. It always weirded him out going through those things. He knew it was some form of Ninjutsu and Reo was good at Ninjutsu – but he wasn’t that good. It was far above his head. Reo’s ninjutsu specialty lay in seals and just about nothing else. Nonetheless, Reo thanked the shinobi who helped him yet again and made his way home. It was a slow walk home, but he was glad to feel the sand beneath his feet once again. It had been a long time.

Once Reo got home, he went promptly to the training room. He slid his weights back on his body.“Taijuu Kage Bunshin No Jutsu” the tired Reo muttered as a hundred other versions of himself popped into existence. They all sat down – one atop the training dummy even – and began to concentrate on the energy surrounding him.

Reo and his dummies concentrated and – as he did so – his mind began to wander. He could feel the nature energy pulling into his body, but his mind focused more on other aspects of his life. The Ryu Caller. Broly. The Cat. Akatsuki. All these images ran through his head and his mind focused on each in turn.

The nature energy stopped coming into the real Reo. Distressed, Reo quickly began to focus once again on the nature energy gathering. He had to work hard to keep his mind focused, as he had never mastered this skill while he was with the armadillos.

Reo refocused himself as he felt the tremendous power of the sage energy flood his body. It was difficult to concentrate as the energy settled into his muscles and mixed with his own chakra. It was difficult because it was different. Be expected to be antsy, to want to move but he felt none of that. Instead, he wanted to sit still and be silent. He wanted to take everything in. Reo wasn’t sure but he thought his clones must surely be feeling the same way and the one sitting on the training dummy seemed completely content.

Reo let the nature energy slowly trickle from his body – dissipating back into the natural void from which it came. Then, he looked around. He closed his eyes and smiled as he dismissed his clones. Knowledge flooded his brain. Knowledge of the way the nature energy worked. Excellent, amazing knowledge. He could handle sage mode and probably do it perfectly with the practice he had just put in.

Smiling, Reo made a hundred more clones and bent down to pick up his staff. It had been lying there so long it collected dust. With a sigh, Reo began to swing it – as did his clones.
