Solo Quest - The Power of Legends

Inshitsu stumbled into his old apartment from a day of walking around meeting with everyone that he known in Kumo. He sighed as he looked at his cluttered housing. He could see trash lying on his kitchen counter and on his couch. Inshitsu walked over to his couch and started to clean off of all the paper on it. Inshitsu stopped as he pulled out a yellow slip of paper. He couldn’t remember why, but he knew that he had written this note for something that was important. Inshitsu finished stuffing everything into his closet and went back to where he had set the yellow note down.

Inshitsu picked the note and realized that there was only a single line on the note. It was a string of numbers, 647871. The meaning of the numbers dawned on him as he stared at the note for a solid two minutes. Inshitsu walked back over to his closet and started to brace himself for the onslaught of garbage incoming. However, before he had pulled the closet open, he noticed what he was looking for on a chair in his room. Inshitsu walked into his room, and picked up the item he was seeking. It was his own personal journal that he had forgotten about while he was in Hikari.

Inshitsu admired the journal’s cover. Inshitsu shook his head and flipped to the page that revealed a list of different numbers. On the left side of the page, it had a single digit number; but on the right side of the page, it had a six-digit number. Inshitsu scanned for 647871 and found that it corresponded with the number 3. Inshitsu flipped to what he had labeled as page 3. Inshitsu saw it was a recollection of his first assassination. Inshitsu quickly scanned through the page to find the reason that he had made the note. Inshitsu’s eyes widen as he found the reason that he made the note in the first place.

The page described the target with a purple dragon on the side of their pants. Inshitsu looked up and stared at the wall. He realized that he had encountered Murasakiiro before and wondered what other times that he had seen the group without realizing. Inshitsu looked back at the page and finished reading to find the true reason for making a note. Inshitsu realized that on the body he found a note mentioning a name of a church that he knew was nearby but he didn’t know the exact location. Inshitsu walked out of his door, leaving the journal closed on his kitchen counter.

Inshitsu ran around for easily an hour, asking for the location of the church. Most of the people he had asked said that the church had been abandoned and refused to answer his question. Only one person, the last one that he had asked for that hour, told him where the church was. Inshitsu, out of curiosity, also asked them what the reason for no one else speaking of it. Inshitsu was shocked to hear that it was closed because someone had been smuggling items through it. Maybe someone beat me to it, Inshitsu gave his thanks to the person and walked quickly towards where he had been told the church is.

Inshitsu stopped on the outside of the church as he stared straight at it. The church looked renewed as if it was still in use by the general community. Inshitsu swallowed as he looked both ways to make sure there wasn’t a single person watching him. Inshitsu walked up to the door of the church and forced it opened. Inshitsu shut the door behind as he looked around the room. It was in an even better condition than the exterior of the church. Inshitsu walked to the back of the room where there was a single door. Inshitsu hesitated from opening the door as he heard voices from behind the door that he was standing in front of.

The voices were faint but he could definitely tell that there were two different people in the back room. Even Inshitsu could realize that something about these two individuals talking in an abandoned church’s back room. Inshitsu braced himself for a fight as he walked into the room. He saw two men staring at each other. One was nervous as if he was flinching from a hit; the other looked as if he was ready to dish the hit to him. Both of their voices stopped as their eyes locked onto Inshitsu. The man with the fierce eyes shouted at him, “Now who the hell are you?”

Inshitsu was taken back from the man’s rude attitude, but he still provided an answer to his question, “Don’t worry about it.” The man’s face scrunched into one that was supposed be more intimating, but honestly made Inshitsu have the giggles. “It will matter, once I punch your fucking teeth in!” The man shook a fist at Inshitsu. Inshitsu rolled his shoulders,”Sure, by the time that happens, I’ll have you hanging by your intestines with your legs as the weight stone.” Inshitsu could tell by the man’s retraction from Inshitsu that his point had gotten across. Inshitsu took another glance at the other man who was eyeing something that was behind the angry man.

Inshitsu tilted his head,”Hey, you.” The anxious man flinched. “Y-y-y-yes?” Even his voice registered him as a coward within Inshitsu’s head. Inshitsu walked over to him, “What are ya looking at?” The anxious man’s eyes started to rise, tracking something that was behind Inshitsu. Inshitsu waited only a second before he raised his left leg and jabbed into whatever was behind him. Inshitsu’s thought was confirmed as he heard a deep grunt come from his kick connecting with the man’s gut. Inshitsu turned around and walked over to the collapsed man. Inshitsu bent over to the incapacitated man. Inshitsu whispered to the man, “That was your mistake.” Inshitsu pulled out his masamune and stabbed directly into the neck of the man.

Inshitsu slowly rose from the corpse of the angry man, returning his masamune to his holster. Inshitsu walked back over to the nervous man who was now shaking furiously on the ground. Inshitsu lowered himself to be level with him. “So, you seem reasonable. Why were you two here?” The anxious man stuttering words got worse to the point where Inshitsu had to strain his ear to make out the words, “We- we were cl-cl-clearing the rest of the ca- ca-cargo from here.” The nervous man wiped his brow. Inshitsu looked around, “So, is there anything left me or am I gonna have to take something else?” If the nerve of the man had been broken before than the man was now a shell of what he was.
