Fourteen years have passed in the small village. The four little girls have grown to be four lovely ladies, each one beautiful in their own right. However time cannot change everything some things will always be the same and no amount of time will be able to fix that.
“Kasumi, have you seen it?” Ayame asked her sister with such excitement she couldn’t even contain it. She was jumping up and down and yelling with amazement.
“The Grey Phoenix? Yes, I have seen it. Its….a little scary if you asked me.” Kasumi responded to her sister. She obviously did not share her sister’s admiration of the firebird and with good reason. The Grey Phoenix was notorious for burning down villages across the land not only that, but the Grey Phoenix was very intimidating. “I don’t see why you guys are so excited with having a dangerous animal in the temple. I say we just kill it and do the world a favor.” Kasumi noted. Ayame looked at her with concern.
“Kasumi, why would we do that? This temple is dedicated to the Grey Phoenix. If he chooses to burn the land that is his will and we shouldn’t stop it. Besides, we are powerless to stop him. The fires on the Firebird are intense enough to burn you without even touching you.” Kasumi nodded at Ayame’s words. She was right; they were absolutely powerless to stop the bird. “I guess so, where is the Firebird anyway?” Kasumi asked. “I think that Ai is comforting it at the moment. I think she is in love with it.” Ayame joked. “Ayame, that is crazy. How could she fall in love with a bird?”
“Wow, I never thought that I would be able to see you up close. You are even more glorious than I thought.” Ai stated looking at the enormous bird. Although she was told that the flames that were all over its body were hot enough to incinerate without contact. Yet she was sitting at the head of the bird, while it was lying down, and petting its head. Ai was surprised that she wasn’t burned to ashes being as close to the Firebird as she was, she eventually came to the conclusion that it the Grey Phoenix was able to control the flames on its body and if it trusted you then you would not be harmed. “I can’t believe I’m am this close to the…” Ai’s thoughts were interrupted by the door behind her quickly opening and closing. “Ai, father said…. said…said.” Rei became frozen with the amazement as she walked into the room and laid eyes on the enormous Firebird. The bird’s head rose and it stared intensely into her eyes with its own unique eyes. Rei began to shake slightly and stutter her words. “I understand, Rei, I will go to him now.” Ai stated and walked out of the room, leaving Rei in the room with the Firebird alone. The bird looked at her and placed his head back on ground and lay back down. She called down and walked slowly towards the bird and slowly placed her hand on its head. She noticed that Ai was able to do the same thing and wasn’t burned. She figured that whatever her sister can do she could too. “Easy… Easy… Easy…” The closer she got the more and more she believed that the Firebird would let her touch it. As soon as she placed her hand on its head its fire flared up a severely burned her hand. Rei screamed out in pain and backed up. She could feel the temperature in the room heat up. She could tell that she had done something to anger the Firebird. It stood up and screeched loudly and took to the skies from the temple room. Rei looked at the bird as it flew away and sighed once she couldn’t see it. She cried slightly as she looked at her hand, it was burned down to the muscle and the damage was pretty much permanent. “I guess there are things that Ai can do that I can’t.” She noted.
Later on that night as Rei was sleeping, still in a slight pain from today; she heard a loud crash and screeching. Loud enough that it echoed throughout the entire temple. Rei immediately awoke. “That screech, it is back.” She knew exactly what it was and was reluctantly to confirming her guess. Ai, Kasumi, and Ayame on the other hand began running towards the commotion. Rei buried her head in her pillow and covered her body in her covers while her sisters and their father handled the problem.
“What is all that noise?” Kasumi asked her sisters. The noise was something that she has never heard before in her life, it send chills down her back. Ai never heard the sound either, but she could tell that it was from Firebird. As the three girls approached the room where the noise was coming from they could see the Grey Phoenix thrashing about and wrecking everything in its surrounding area. “What is going on? Why is it acting like this?” Ayame asked. Ai, being a Sealing Specialist, Ai noticed a seal on its forehead. “Its in trouble, its about to die.” She had been studying that seal for quite some time and recognized it as the Reverse Resurrection Sealing. It was a seal that was placed on beings that were able to resurrect themselves and would ultimately kill the being forever. “I’ve been working on a counter seal. For this, stand aside.” Ai bite her hand to draw some blood and began to write a seal on her opposite hand. She then charged the bird with her seal. She could feel the temperature rise as she approached the bird it was coming way too intense for her, but she was going to help the Grey Phoenix. Once she was close enough she grabbed its head with her sealing hand and began to place the seal on its forehead. Ai’s seal began to counter the seal that was already in place, however the bird was still screeching and after she placed the seal the firebird started the shrink. Ayame and Kasumi immediately became concerned. “Ai, what did you do? Why is it shrinking?” Ayame asked. “With the seal that was already on its forehead it was going to die. So I had to place the Rebirth seal. The Rebirth Sealing does not stop the process I’m afraid. So it will still die, but it will be born again. However…” Ai watched as the bird continued to shrink until it exploded into flames.
“What happened?” Kasumi asked Ai. Ai waited for the smoke to clear before seeing if her sealing as worked. Once the smoke cleared the girls seen a human body on the ground where the bird was. It was an unconscious male, around the age of 18, and bare. The girls began to blush when they seen the boy. This was probably the first time they any of them has seen a naked body of the opposite sex. Ai managed to catch her composure and was able to speak normally. “… He would be burn again as human.” [1207 words]
