| A gentle breeze whistled through the jungle and the sounds of the animals around them continued to chatter, providing an energetic soundtrack to Asura's day. And today, he felt even better because he now began a new form of training-- the same training that stuff of legends did.
Senjutsu.
With him, cross legged upon a boulder on the side of the clearing in the jungle, was Vidav-- a humanoid white-tiger cloaked in a violet robe. The white tiger was an elder to the Blood Vale tiger tribe, and also renown for his knowledge and power as a shinobi. Despite his rumored power, he was kind and compassionate-- much better than Asura would of expected of the tigers. And he was the one who proposed Asura learn to master Nature Energy.
Asura too sat cross legged on the forest floor and waited for Vidav to begin, the cat looking almost peaceful, as if to meditate.
Nearby, a training dummy was tied up to one of the large trees, but they wouldn't need it just yet.
"Asura, before we begin, there are a few things I must explain to you." Vidav said as he looked down to Asura from his perch on the rock.
"Yes, sir," Asura replied in attendance.
"Now listen carefully, there is a grand difference between Ninjutsu, the art you are familiar with, and Senjutsu. They are completely different fields and require a great deal of training than you are used to. So be aware this will take some time to master, even for someone as sharp as you."
"I understand," Asura replied . "I know this stuff is not easy to master."
"If only that was just the case..." Vidav said and began to explain. "Sage Jutsu is not meant for anyone. There is a chance you might even fail all together at it if you can't handle it. But I am getting a bit ahead of myself." From his side, Vidav took a large stick that rested beside the rock and drew it towards a patch of dirt between them.
"Now as you probably know, Ninjutsu involves the manipulation of Chakra-- which is a combination of one's mental and physical energies." Vidav drew out a traditional symbol of Yin and Yang in the dust, and marked with 'physical' and 'spiritual' inside each one. Asura watched with attendance as he continued . "Sage Jutsu, involves a whole other element-- Nature Energy. The raw power that resonates throughout the environment around you. Take this jungle for example. Believe it or not, a great deal of nature energy is potent in this jungle, for there to be so much life here. " Vidav drew out another diagram-- this time a 3, prong circle with Yin and Yang before-- and the third one with the symbol for nature. "Sage Jutsu, involves the sensing, drawing and control of that very energy into yourself. As a result, your ninjutsu, genjutsu, and even taijutsu-- will recieve a very potent power boost. "
"So... that is the power of Sage Jutsu?" Asura asked in awe.
"Well not completely. There is much more to Senjutsu than that. To successfully use Nature energy is to wield the very power of nature itself-- far beyond what a human can achieve on his own. However... " Vidav's expression grew serious as he looked to Asura. "This training does not come without risk, Asura."
Asura nodded and took a deep breath. " What risks are we talking about here?"
Vidav let go of the stick, allowing it to clatter upon the ground. "In order to gather nature energy, you must learn to be one with nature. The only way to even sense nature energy at all, then even draw it to you, is to become one with the flow of nature. " he explained.
"Are we talking about basic meditation?" Asura asked.
"Yes, and no... To become one with nature, involves complete focus and to not move. Not even a little bit. To do so will cause you great harm."
Asura hesitated for a moment. Even though he was paying attention, he didn't understand the risk involved. "I'm sorry , Lord Vidav... but I am not sure what the risk is. "
Vidav sighed as he tried to consider a way to tell him. "Asura, you are undergoing training to master Nature Energy. I hope you realize the gravity of such a task and why its not meant for everyone. The power of nature energy is massive and infinite. The smallest fraction of this forest's energy could easily overwhelm you. " His gaze grew even more serious. "To not take in nature energy properly, it can take over you and you will no longer be considered human. Transformed into something else wit no way of going back. "
A bit of sweat dripped from Asura's brow-- and not because of the humidity. "So... where should I begin then?" he asked. '
"For now, I wish you to meditate. Try to sense the flow of nature around you. The wind, the feel of the earth below you. Every sound, every sensation... clear your mind completely and take in the sensations you feel around you. Because you are just learning, you have yet to understand what nature energy feels like."
"In time, you will be able to see it. Then-- only then, should you attempt to absorb it into yourself." Vidav said, "Do you understand?"
"Yes, Sir!" Asura replied.
"Sigh... all this Lord and Sir is making me feel older. Jeez..." Vidav said and slid down from his rock. "Anyway, lets get started. Begin meditating. Remember, your focus must be absolute."
Asura nodded and began to do so. Though his mind was anxious, he took the first step and began to meditate. It would take some time... but Asura had hope he could succeed.
Hours passed as he did this. Vidav kept an intentive watch over him as the morning became the Afternoon. He sensed some twitches in Asura, but nothing wrong. "Remember. You must be perfectly still as a rock. Any kind of movement will throw you off balance with the flow of nature."
Asura didn't reply, but he heard him clearly. He couldn't figure it out yet... but he had no doubt he will.
