The Forests of Silence

The Shan’s ignored him as they created that strange element of theirs. He wished he understood exactly what they were doing. Out of the corner of Shan’s eye, he noticed one of the Genin wandering over to one of his clones – probably just as curious as the real Shan was. Still, it wasn’t any of his business, so Shan turned back to the tree and focused his chakra to his feet. He began to walk up the tree – moving ever further than before. He really was beginning to get the hang of this method of training – even with his power divided among the clones.

“Enough!” Shan bellowed as he jumped off the tree and landed with a thud. He felt the training’s effects even before dispersing the clones. He sighed and made the handsigns to disperse them and felt the knowledge and experience flood into his body. It was a strange situation that he wasn’t exactly sure he would ever quite get used to. Still, he turned and looked at the tree. So simple that it seemed now that he wasn’t using the clones. He channeled chakra into his feet and began to walk up it. He didn’t falter as he took step after step.

Shan jumped down from the tree and looked at himself. He could do it without the clones, now but could he manage it with them? Maybe if they weren’t about to be such morons obsessing over their new combination of fire and lightning. He could tell within his mind that they were referring to it as Plasma. Well, it was certainly powerful but they had another task in coming here.

Shan made the signs for Kage Bunshin No Jutsu repeatedly. It took ten times before he had one hundred clones running about again – each taking a small piece of his chakra with them.

The clones marched towards their trees – infinitely more serious about this training than they had been before. Shan could see the chakra building in their feet – and he began to build his own. With that, he began to walk up the tree. It wa harder than it had been without the clones – but harder wasn’t necessarily bad. It was a good thing that he could manage it. As he walked, he grew more and more confident to the point that Shan began to run up the tree. The clones were behaving similarly. Shan jumped off and landed solidly on the ground. He looked over and saw that the two genin were at about the same place as he was with this training.

Shan walked over to the Genin and smiled at them. “Perfected it, have you?”

“Of course! We noticed you did as well.” The two genin said in unison. Shan prepared his chakra in his finger. It would be so easy to kill them….

But he didn’t. he turned around and released the shadow clone jutsu. He was done here. He had a Helmet to go find. He would have killed them, but something held him back. Even Shan didn’t understand exactly why he didn’t. Perhaps it was because – unlike many people – these ones showed him kindness. That was a rarity in todays world so Shan would reward them with their lives.
