Kusa - Solo Quest[ Fangs of the Snake ]

Inshitsu leaned on the village’s outer gate. Inshitsu was breathing heavily from his daily climb down from his resting spot in the village. Inshitsu had taken a walk outside in order to get a little bit of exercise to stop his body from cramping up. He also giggled when he had passed the spot where he had lit the grass up because of his technique. Even now, Inshitsu grinned at the thought of seeing the singed field. Inshitsu’s mouth started to crunch up due to the sun shifting to perfectly blind him; Inshitsu raised his hand to block the sun’s perfect accuracy. With his regained vision, he noticed a masked person that was staring at him.

Inshitsu said to the person staring at him, “Can I help you?” The person looked as if they didn’t realize they were staring at him, and started walked deeper into the village. Inshitsu would have ignored the person’s departure, but he noticed that the stranger had a symbol on their shoulder that didn’t seem nice to Inshitsu. It was a skull that was over a dark violet dragon. Inshitsu stared at the back of the stranger’s head. As soon as the stranger turned a corner, Inshitsu ran towards the corner and climbed the building it was part of. Inshitsu stared from the roof of the building down to the stranger.

Inshitsu watched and followed as the stranger navigated through the village’s paths. The stranger stopped many times to look behind them. Yet, he never looked up so Inshitsu never worried about getting spotted. They also looped around the village a lot to the point where Inshitsu sometimes stood, waiting for the person to walk in a different direction. The person stopped, Inshitsu waited for the person to look backwards. However, they didn’t; in fact, another person joined them. It was a blond female with hair that went down to her waist. Inshitsu’s head tilted for a second as he started to follow them.

The pair took an even more confusing route than the masked person did on their own. Inshitsu was sure that he had stopped for a solid hour before they stopped going in loops. He honestly wondered if they knew of his presence, but even when they stopped to check for people following them, they didn’t glance up at the roofs of the buildings. Inshitsu was half tempted to give up if it wasn’t for their strange behavior. They turned around once more before they headed into a two story building that looked like a modest home. Inshitsu only took a moment of hesitation as he jumped onto a second level window and climbed into the building.

Inshitsu’s feet landed on what sounded like a wooden surface. Inshitsu couldn’t see anything in the room that he had climbed into due to the lack of light in the room. Inshitsu moved out of the path of window in order to allow light to reveal what was in the room with him. The light from the window illuminated the room. It was empty. Inshitsu looked around for what could seem like a secret exit or compartment, but it came empty. Inshitsu scratched his head, trying to figure what was the purpose of the room he was in. Inshitsu stopped as he heard voices outside the room’s door.

Inshitsu panicked as he quickly rescanned the room for a place to hide from whoever could want to enter this room. Inshitsu heard the door crack open, and quickly darted behind the door to stay out of sight of the person. “See? No one is in here.” Inshitsu assumed that it was the female talking to the masked person, if only because of the pitch of the voice. Inshitsu stayed pressed against the wall as the door shut leaving Inshitsu on his own in the empty void of a room. Inshitsu waited until he could no longer hear anything but the sound of his own breathing before heading out of the door.

Inshitsu walked into the dimly hallway that was outside of the empty room. Inshitsu shut the door quietly behind him as he looked at both ends of the hallway. Inshitsu saw that one end was brightly lit, but he couldn’t see the other end. Inshitsu walked away from the lit end to travel to the dark end. Inshitsu noticed that the door he came out of was the only one in the hall between the two ends. Inshitsu stopped as he hit the dead end of the hallway. Inshitsu saw that there was a door at the end of the hallway. It was painted dark grey which blended into the dark environment.

Inshitsu stopped in front of the door, pondering what could lie behind it. Inshitsu twisted the knob, but it wouldn’t bulge. Inshitsu bent over to examine the knob and noticed that it had a needle jammed into the lock. Inshitsu twisted the needle and took it out of the knob, tossing it onto the floor. Inshitsu twisted the knob again; this time the door gave way to Inshitsu. The room was lined with filing cabinets that seemed to be labeled with various days and weeks. On the other end of the room was a desk with a drawer in the middle of it. Inshitsu entered the room and closed the door behind him.

Inshitsu wasn’t sure where to start. The cabinets literally spanned the entire room and all of them looked filled to the brim. Inshitsu walked over to the desk. The desk was clear of anything, but he discovered that the drawer was full when he opened it. Inshitsu pulled out the three papers that were inside of the drawer and set them on top of the desk. All three of the papers had a corner colored black. Inshitsu scanned quickly through every single one of the papers. They all mentioned the reason he was here, a blade called the Kusanagi no Tsurugi.

Inshitsu sucked in his breath, setting the papers back on to the desk.”How many times do I have to tell you? There is no one else here.” Inshitsu quickly snatched up the papers and reenacted the events of the empty room, taking up a position behind the door. Inshitsu held his breath as he heard the door of the empty room open and shut again. Inshitsu heard the footstep get fainter as they went back into the lit portion of the hallway. Inshitsu peaked out the room’s door and started to walk out. Walking back into the empty room, he noticed that the window was still open. Inshitsu climbed out of the window, climbing to the roof of the building. Inshitsu ran away from the building in order to find a spot to study the documents that he had obtained.
