Kori walked along her normal route. The sidewalk was well constructed and kids ran around. They were younger than the twelve year old Junpaku clan member, so they skirted around her. They clearly didn’t want anything to do with her. The reason was obvious as they turned their heads and looked on in fear.
 
Kori was creating ice. She wasn’t the best at it just yet, but she thought she was beginning to figure out how to do it. She had been thinking of creating water and air and mixing them together but that wasn’t quite right.
 
She needed to create them together.

Creating them together was a fundamentally different process than creating the two separately and attempting to mix them after the fact. Mixing elements wasn’t the same as pouring ingredients into a bowl and mixing them once inside. No, this was more like combining the properties of both and creating something entirely new out of it.
 
Not like baking at all. Kori mused as the ice in her hands began to run up her arms. It didn’t hurt, much. It was cold, but her body was able to handle the cold without too much difficulty. The main issue she was having now pertained to control.

Kori focused – willing the ice to move off her arms and into a ball in her hand. It somewhat listened. The ice moved down from her arms and slumped to the ground. She wasn’t sure, but she thought she may need hand seals to do advanced techniques such as creating a ball. Everything else would probably be covered under basic usages of the chakra. Well, by everything else she meant that the ability to create it and create a general aura of cold would probably be possible without a dedicated jutsu. Still, the young Kunoichi beamed. She was only an Academy Student and already she was close to mastering Hyouton.

Kori focused on the ice manipulation once more. This time, she easily created it in her hands. It existed more as a floating vapor of cold at the moment, but she figured she would eventually learn more about how to use the chakra. She just needed to be able to use it first.
 
Then, she concentrated and forced it outwards. A wave of cold washed over everything.
 
“Stop, thief!” A voice yelled out. Kori snapped her head to the side. A man was running with a bag of money out of a shop. Kori grabbed a wooden kunai and toosed it, though flew high and ended up hitting a sign instead.

Kori reached down to her kunai holster and tossed another wooden kunai at the thief. “Damnit! Why don’t I replace those with real Kunai!” Kori yelled as the wooden Kunai flew perfectly and bounced off the thief’s back.
 
He was fast. So was Kori. She took off after him at max speed, bending down and grabbing the Kunai as she ran. They were wooden, but they were pricey, and she didn’t want to lose them. The thief continued to run, and Kori had lost momentum momentarily by picking up her kunai. She tried to pick up her pace as the thief turned a corner.
